Real Salt Lake sign Braian Ojeda on loan from Nottingham Forest

Real Salt Lake saw a busy final day to the MLS Secondary Transfer Window, finalizing a deal for Braian Ojeda in the final hours.

The midfielder agreed to join RSL on a year-long loan from English Premier League side Nottingham Forest, arriving as the team’s first ever U22 Initiative signing.

“Braian is a dynamic, two-way midfielder who will bring another option to our already talented group in the center of the pitch,” general manager Elliot Fall said in a release.

“He is a player hungry to compete and develop, while also bringing valuable international experience from his time with Nottingham Forest and Paraguay. We look forward to getting him on the ground in Salt Lake and competing for minutes soon.”

Ojeda joined Nottingham Forest last August, making just three appearances in their Championship campaign that earned them the promotion to England’s top flight. Prior to Forest, the midfielder saw time with Olimpia in his native Paraguay, and a loan spell at Argentina’s Defensa y Justicia.

Yael Averbuch West hosted none other than Christian Fuchs for the latest episode of Football Americana. The Charlotte FC captain provided insight into the creation of Major League Soccer’s newest expansion team, and bringing European culture into the American side. The Premier League winner also revealed his future aspirations, hinting at a potential career at coaching once he hangs up his boots. Tune in to hear it all from Christian Fuchs.

Internationally, the player earned four caps with Paraguay during their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, starting against Brazil and Uruguay.

Now, his focus must shift to Major League Soccer as Real Salt Lake fight to maintain a top seven spot in the Western Conference table. The team currently sits in fifth, with 34 points in 23 games and a record of 9W-7L-7D.

RSL is looking to build off of last year’s MLS playoff run, which saw the underdog team reach the Conference final under head coach Pablo Mastroeni.
