Minn. school social workers: Mental health concerns up

School social workers and counselors in Minnesota say they are seeing more students with anxiety and suicidal thoughts whose needs are acute, and while schools are working to hire more mental health staff members, a shortage remains. “Students who would have flown under the radar in a normal academic year are really struggling, too,” social worker Joey Corcoran says.
