A woman was transported to hospital early on Thursday morning after being assaulted at or close to her home.
A woman has been left in a serious condition after she was assaulted at or close to her home in Christchurch.
Police received reports of the assault in Spreydon at 2.10am on Thursday, a spokesman said.
The woman appeared to have been assaulted “on or near the driveway of her home”, he said.

A reporter at the scene said police could be seen at the housing unit on Bolton Ave.
St John also responded and transported the woman to hospital in a serious condition.
The police spokesman said it was unclear whether the incident was family harm related or what the nature of the woman’s injuries were.
