Mitigating learning loss for students with disabilities

The National Center for Learning Disabilities recommends implementing inclusive, accessible instruction enriched with social and emotional learning activities, ensuring student evaluations are effective and engaging families in the education process as strategies to help address learning loss, Javaid Siddiqi, president and CEO of the Hunt Institute, writes in this opinion piece. Studies show that students with disabilities are at greater risk of learning loss under ordinary circumstances, and the pandemic has only heightened that risk, Siddiqi writes.
