The word ‘beige’ has become something of an insult. Used to reference things (and people) that are bland, boring, and, um, basic, beige has a reputation for being sensible and dull. This season’s beige boots are anything but. From shearling lined suede boots that you don’t want to take off to OTK boots that turn heads, these are wardrobe firecrackers that punch high on the style scale. A welcome alternative to black that’s just as versatile and hardworking, they’re our go-to for in-between seasons when it’s getting warmer, but we haven’t got around to a pedicure yet. From palest fawn to warm caramel, here are our favourites of the season.

Welcome to beige 2.0. Modern design gives the tried-and-tested colour a new lease of life. Look for style details like pointy toes (see: By Far and Jimmy Choo) or equestrian vibes à la Khaite and Valentino. Meanwhile, The Row continue to tempt us with minimalistic flats boots that practically begs to be worn. This is beige, but not as you know it.

And you thought beige was dull? Proenza Schouler and Gia Borghini say otherwise. Their over-the-knee boots come with heaps of sex appeal and look great with a mini or jeans. Paris Texas puts a western spin on the beloved second skin boot and are begging to be worn out-out. Not so boring after all.

One of beige’s biggest pulls is its versatility. A pair of beige boots will fit seamlessly into your wardrobe, and there’s no more versatile style than an ankle boot. Running the full gamut from Loewe’s bang on trend, platform boots, to Ganni’s heeled Chealseas, it’s a feast for the lovers of autumn out there. Go for extra fashion kudos with Miu Miu’s latest drop of their grunge, runway boots , and you’ll never look at beige in the same way again.
